LES MESSAGES CACHéS DE l’EAU
Dans ‘Les messages cachés de l’eau’, à travers un travail sur le reflet, Frédéric Bourret propose une réflexion sur la subjectivité de la perception: Le regard que nous portons sur un sujet que nous découvrons pour la première fois peut-il être vierge?
Notre perception n’est-elle pas systématiquement influencée par notre vécu, notre appartenance à un groupe, notre culture? Frédéric Bourret cherche ici à le démontrer par le biais d’un piège tendu à la perception. Ce dernier se referme à travers la répétition du même sujet à différentes heures du jour: plus le sujet se répète, plus la certitude de ce que l’on voit grandit. En effet, de quel type de reflet s’agit-il au juste? Quel en est la surface réfléchissante? Est ce vraiment de l’eau? ou une vitre? Et pourquoi pas une façade? Et ce reflet n’est-il pas finalement qu’un trompe l’oeil, résultat d’un effet de contre plongée? L’artiste ne donnerait-il pas à voir ici, à son tour, à travers différentes harmonies de couleur, des cathédrales du XXI° siècle?

In ‘The Hidden Messages of Water,’ through a study of reflection, Frédéric Bourret offers a reflection on the subjectivity of perception: Can the gaze we cast upon a subject we encounter for the first time be truly impartial? Is our perception not systematically influenced by our experiences, our belonging to a group, our culture? Frédéric Bourret seeks to demonstrate this by setting a trap for perception. It closes through the repetition of the same subject at different times of the day: the more the subject repeats, the greater the certainty of what we see. Indeed, what kind of reflection is it, exactly? What is the reflecting surface? Is it really water? Or is it glass? And why not a facade? And isn’t this reflection ultimately just an optical illusion, the result of a counter-angle effect? Is the artist not showing, in turn, through different color harmonies, the cathedrals of the 21st century? Winner of the ‘Coup de Coeur’ award at the Talent Grant. »
